At both places we've had shore power, varying from amp. We've also had clean drinking water going straight to our rig. In all honesty, it isn't one, necessarily. People boondock all the time, where they camp without any hookups at all. The problem is when you're sitting still for so long that you approach full and don't really have a convenient way to drain the grey or black tanks.

How to Connect an RV to Full Hookups
The safest and simplest way to install a home hookup for a recreational vehicle, or RV, is to use a supply pedestal manufactured for the purpose. Supply pedestals are similar to the hookups at most campsites, typically made with one built-in amp outlet, one amp outlet and one or two amp outlets. Appropriately sized circuit breakers are preinstalled, and some feature a usage meter and a switched light for using the pedestal after dark. They are weatherproof and entirely self-contained, set up so that one amp connection to the pedestal supplies all the outlets with their correct voltages. Locate the breaker box to the home. Remove the two screws at the bottom of the dead-front panel and lift it away, then test that all power is off using your voltage meter to bridge from the live side to the neutral side.

How to Install an RV Home Hookup
A constant battle with traveling across the USA is water quality and taste. In the first couple years we used to test our water at each campground but it was such a pain, now we always use a filter system. A standard hose carbon filter is a great starting point for filtration, we prefer the Culligan brand because it has a higher flow rate and lasts longer than the Camco version both are fine. From there we run our water through the softener which removes more contaminants and reduces calcium which can destroy plumbing, fixtures and your water heater. Of the few RV parks we visit in our travels only a small handful have cable, and of those only a couple have a quality non-static signal.
Recreational vehicles are designed for "boondocking," or camping without hookups. A fresh water tank, volt battery-operated appliances and holding tanks allow most RV travelers to disconnect from utilities for a few days. Hookups provide increased comfort, including the ability to use unlimited water and run items that draw a great deal of power such as televisions and air conditioners. Most RV parks provide either partial hookups, which include electricity and water, or full hookups, which add sewer service. Some deluxe parks also include hookups for cable television and telephone lines.
